Winemaking The Leth family winery is located in Fels on the terraced slopes of the Wagram River. As third generation winemaker and leading producer of the Wagram, Franz Leth has been an ambassador of Austrian wines for over 20 years. Looking to the future of Austrian viticulture and the preservation of its heritage, the Leth family has planted Austria’s first “living grape museum,” planting and maintaining nearly 150 ancient grape varieties. Expression and tradition are the cornerstones of Leth’s winemaking. Tradition trumps all else in his pursuit of the finest that the Wagram has to offer. Delicate and aromatic, his wines are the truest expression of the region. And no wine demonstrates this more perfectly and consistently than the Scheiben Vineyard Gruner Veltliner, which in a recent wine writers press tasting covering two decades, proved itself consistently at the top of all Austrian winemaking. Leth’s wines are quite simply the best of the Wagram.
